Using Trackers

There are just three easy steps to tracking legislation in Congress with GovTrack.

Add Trackers

A tracker watches an aspect of Congress for activity. There are bill trackers, people trackers, subject trackers, and committee trackers. Look below for how to add trackers.

View Tracked Events

The Tracked Events page is customized to the trackers you choose. It shows bill activity relevant to your interests.

Subscribe To Updates

Sign up for email updates Edit account settings for email updates or look for the feed icon on the Tracked Events page to get a customized RSS/Atom feed for your trackers.

Adding Trackers

Trackers mark your interests in Congress so you can get notifications about just the activity in Congress that interests you. When bills related to your trackers make progress in the legislative process, your Tracked Events page gets updated, along with any feeds you've subscribed to.

To add a tracker:

  1. Look at the list of general trackers and click a link to add a tracker.
  2. Or find the page on this site for...

  3. Look for the Add Tracker button on the page. A picture of the button is shown to the right.
  4. Click the Add Tracker button!
  5. Check out your Tracked Events page. A link will appear below the button.

If you're signed up (it's free) and you've turned on email updates you will get your tracked events sent to you by email. Your Tracked Events page also includes a link to a RSS or Atom news feed customized to the trackers you've chosen.
